So first one is on our Easter trip to Italy. Together with Alan, Gitte, Retisina, Sarah and Tom. It was a fantabulous trip!!! (Oh no, Federer is losing... I mean Nadal's awesome but Federer is my favorite tennis player!)
Here are some pics I dunno if it'll work, but let's hope so:
Woohoo, it does... Anyway, they're from the Rome leg of our trip (19 out of 315 I took! Whaaaaaaat? Rome is a paradise of kodak moments man...). I have yet to edit the pictures from Cinque Terre, Florence and Siena, but I'll have them up asap.
OH MY GOSH, I haven't watched the tennis match since Federer was down by 4-1 to Nadal and now he's up by 6 games to 5, meaning there's hope for a 5 set match! GO FEDERER! Im going to have a heart attack soon!!
Back to Italy... our adventure started before we left when we realized that Retisina didnt have a visa for Italy! We tried everything and anything - calling all sorts of embassies (dutch, danish, french, italian, spanish, german... you name it!) but alas, we didnt have much luck. On the night before we left, Retisina and I decided to risk it and the worst they can do is send her back to Switzerland (where she had a valid visa by the way).
We got on the train from Geneva to Milan and for 5 hours there was nothing but uncertainty. Most of us were not too worried once we were on the train, but Retisina apparently prayed non-stop for those 5 hours! LOL. And to our great delight, we were in Milan and no checkers had come on to verify our papers! What a relief! From then on, it was nothing but fun fun fun.
We didn't stay in Milan but instead took a train from Milan to Florence. Florence was magnificent and we got to see the statue of David and see that famous Cathedral ... oh man, I forgot its name.. anyway, you can google it. The weather was so beautiful, and there were so many sites to see. The food was so YUMMY (oh and the icecream... woooooooow) and our hostel was very nice and clean! Here are some pics and I must mention how we found the biggest ice cream cone we've ever seen, thanks to Retisina! Enjoy...On our way to Cinque Terre, we managed to spend a few hours in Siena and this small city seems to have come out of a fairytale. It had an almost magical feel to it - realy cool.
We then arrived in Cinque Terre and spent 3 days there. How do I describe it? Well, let me just say that as much as I appreciated Rome, Florence and Siena's history and architecture... they don't compare to the awe-inspiring sight of Cinque Terre's natural landscape. The vegetation, the beach, the rock formation and cliffs along with the 5 little villages on them were just magnificent! These pictures are good but don't do much justice so if you have the chance, go visit Cinque Terre.
All right. That's more or less our Italy trip for you. Don't wanna bore you too much. And I've already spent 3 hours working on it!
Thanks again to Tom, Sarah, Gitte and Alan for the awesome time we had over those 6 days. Retisina and I will always remember the good and fun memories we had!!!
PS. Awwwww... Federer lost, but it's okay, Nadal deserves it just as much... better luck next time Fedman!
