Vatrouchka, Peace and Samoa's Birthday

I've just come back from Paris, the city of light supposedly and yeah, it was okay. Oh, don't get me wrong, Paris fascinated me. I think I didn't "feel" it that much because I was there for 4 days but it felt like a only few hours. Too much peace man. Too much peace.

LOL Sorry, let me explain. I went with three colleagues to represent the WCC at the "Salon des Initiatives de Paix" (Salon of Peace Initiatives). We set up our little exhibition booth which was conveniently located next to the toilets at the ground floor. For the whole 3 days, we got minimal traffic and some stopped by only after relieving themselves, and not really because they were interested.

Others had heard of us but thought we were useless or hated the Pope (cos every Christian is Catholic....). Others came and thought using 5 languages was a waste of time and tried to convince us of the imminent domination of Esperanto - some silly language only 100,000-2million people spoke (wiki said so!). And then umm, who else? And countless others. However, it wasn't all bad - there were some nice people and some interesting exhibitions and workshops held over those three days. Thank goodness the toilets didn't smell though!

I did enjoy the cuisine (vatrouchka being their version of a cheese cake), the crowds, the ambiance. I was telling Kent (good chap and great company!) that I found it had an air of arrogance about it. After all, it holds so much history and culture doesn't it?

Anyway... I've run out of things to say... oh wait, no I haven't! I forgot to tell you about my night in Brussels!!!

On Friday night, I took a train to Brussels to attend the Samoa Independence Day dinner held at our Ambassador's residence (Embassy to the whole of Europe!). Yep, 44 years ago, the Samoan people got to make their own decisions!!!! I tell you, it was just FANTASTIC. Yummy food, awesome company, lots of laugh and good drinking! (More like Fran doing all the drinking.... :P)

Gosh, aren't I just the jetsetter ey? Paris and Brussels in 4 days! What a life... what a life...

A bientot!!
