If I wait until....

....I sort out my pictures, I will never blog about my impressions of Berlin!!!

So here goes - ok, first thing's first, 2.5 days is NOT enough time to have a good and thorough look around a place, but it is enough to get a feel for it, and catch a "glimpse" of it.

I had a good vibe of Berlin. I arrived on Friday night, and just loved driving through the wide streets with the soft streetlights shining onto new and old buildings next to one another. I guess this was due to the extensive damage it went through in World War II.

We went to watch a polynesian show on Friday night... which isn't even worth mentioning because it was so badly organized . Still, it was great to just hang out with other islanders living all over Europe!

On Saturday morning, we - being myself, my cousin Jordan, friends Vincent, Faleata, Vaegaau and her two gorgeous boys - went out on a hop on/off bus tour (not my preferred option, but recommended if you have little time to explore!) of the city. What struck me the most, was the stunning architecture of the place. I guess losing 80% of its infrastructure gave them the chance to be creative and bold with their new buildings!

And it also has this really surreal character to it... like an old willow tree that had seen a loooooooooot of things in its lifetime. Really strange. And seeing that wall - that famous wall - made it even more unreal! The idea that I was alive, when it fell really hit home for me. It's part of MY history and it shaped how I live my life today. Unbelievable.

You also got this awesome feeling that there was nothing but bubbling and buzzing culture and life around you. Damn, I wish I had more time there!!! Anyway, we still got to see many sights and some that really marked me were the Holocaust Memorial - a chilling reminder of how stupid humans can be, the Memorial Church - a beautiful fusion of old and new architecture, the Brandenburger Tor - the symbol of Berlin (though if i were honest, i thought it would be way bigger than it is!), and funny enough, the "Angela's Titanic" or the CDU Headquarters which looked like a ship!!! AND lets not forget the Reichstag - the imposing Parliament building! That was something too!!!

Oh and I gotta mention how much fun I had dancing until the wee hours of the morning! LOL. Man, do you know how much I love to just dance dance dance? Yeah, you probably do. Anyway, Berlin gets extra brownie points for the great time I had clubbing! LOL

All in all, I had a wonderful time with great people in a fascinating city! And Im very excited about going back... am looking at October, November... but we'll see as I still have a million other places to visit... damnit! hahaha...

Until next time...
