What I will not and cannot tolerate is people's blatant ignorance and discriminatory views, based on erroneous information and misconceptions. They are close-minded to other values and are adamant that their truth is the only truth. There is no room for discussion or dialogue. You're either with them or you're not. And this, this is the very premise that divides people and causes them to hate others different to them. It causes them to point fingers and say "You're not like me, so hey, you must be evil!". It sows nothing but hate!
ARGH! I could go on and on about this... but that's enough for my rant of the week. Though you might be interested to know what triggered this. It's just so frustrating sometimes...!!!!
Here it is:
“I’m afraid if he wins, the blacks will take over. He’s not a Christian! This is a Christian nation! What is our country gonna end up like?”
“When you got a Negra running for president, you need a first stringer. He’s definitely a second stringer.”
“He seems like a sheep - or a wolf in sheep’s clothing to be honest with you. And I believe Palin - she’s filled with the Holy Spirit, and I believe she’s gonna bring honesty and integrity to the White House.”
“He’s related to a known terrorist, for one.”
“He must support terrorists! You know, uh, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it must be a duck. And that to me is Obama.”
“Just the whole, Muslim thing, and everything, and everybody’s still kinda - a lot of people have forgotten about 9/11, but… I dunno, it’s just kinda… a little unnerving.”
“Obama and his wife, I’m concerned that they could be anti-white. That he might hide that.”
“I don’t like the fact that he thinks us white people are trash… because we’re not!”
I mean, wtf??????
I'm holding on to hope, but when I see such reports it makes me doubt America will elect a person based on objective information about his platform. Instead, it all comes down to the colour of his skin. Rascism is still deeply rooted in their society.
If I weren't such an optimist, I'd think we humans are messed up!!!!... but we're not. Really we're not! We're still okay at the end of the day.

if only the USA were the only place in the world where racism still existed...unfortunately, it's a planet-wide disease, and i honestly (not just being pessimistic here) think that racism will never disappear so long as people come in different colors (unless the entire world suffers from a simultaneous episode of amnesia or something). there will always be that person or group who passes along the stupidity and hate, who think/s they're better than others for whatever reason they can come up with...and the easiest lines along which to divide are race and class. ugh...no matter what anyone says, i'll unfortunately never be able to love those people.
ma dear... i applaud the faith you have on the human race :) but some people are not as open minded like you and me lol... u werent kidding when u said you were into the Presidential Elections aye ;)
unfortunately, these elections affect the rest of the world too!! And the more Bush's policies remain... the worse the state of the world will be! And yeah, Patch - I realize its a worldwide problem and will always remain, but I believe it's our duty to try and "enlighten" (for lack of a better word) fellow human beings who are prejudiced...
