Thanks Anama for the wonderful idea. I've been meaning to write about my 2009 but four months later and nada! So I might as well write about 2009, 2010 and 2011!! Here goes:
Last year and in random order: I traveled every month except for March and in turn visited 5 new countries. That brought the total number of countries I've CONQUERED to 31! :P I became an adult (boohoo) and bought land in Samoa. Tons of friends and family kept me busy with their visits to Geneva. Devastating tsunami in Samoa. New job. Mum graduated from Malua Bible School. My baby Sunema started her uni studies in Australia. And finally, the most important event in 2009 - my sister Retisina gave birth to the love of my life, Faitala Patu on March 4, 2009. And despite some difficult and painful times, it was another FANTABULOUS year!!!!!
Last month Yikes! Got a wee bit overwhelmed with work as I welcomed new interns, wrote reports, organized retreats and attended too many mind-boggingly boring meetings. Basically, I tried to juggle a trillion things all at once ....with not much success... but eventually I fought back and I can now juggle swords, knives & fireballs while blindfolded, tied to a chair and underwater. Thank you.
Last week I was ending my wonderful time in Dubai. I recuperated and revived my spirits with big doses of laughter and love, plenty of time relaxing and even getting lost in malls. And so I came back to Geneva rejuvenated and ready to take on whatever life had to throw me!
Yesterday I found out my dearest friend Amra gave birth to a healthy baby girl Sara. (Bless you oh child! For you have a mad and awesome mother!!!!) And then not long after, I was told some more big news. Not necessarily as good..... more like OMFG!!! now what?!? but then I shrugged my shoulders and said "It'll be fine, for this too shall pass!!!"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This year started with my 29th birthday on the 3rd January. I decided to make it BIGGER and BETTER than past years - as a celebration of my last year in the 20s and to start my 30s with a big BANG! The traveling hasn't let up (YAY for ants in my pants!!) and oh, I refuse to take things for granted - little things, medium things, big things - everything!!!!!!!!!! (hence the "is grateful this morning ....." status updates)
This month marks two years since I've moved to my current apartment. Lawd, where has time gone?!?! It also marks 6 months since I started my new job. I haven't settled in yet and feel overwhelmed more often than I'd like to but I keep telling myself that the dust will settle... one day. Just keep going, right?
This week has been hard, but one's gotta be calm and very matter-of-fact about the situation at hand (see yesterday!). Heck, I've survived worse and as that famous and delicious Samoan specimen, The Rock said "JUST BRING IT!" :P
Today I've taken a better turn with the stupid cold. I made a dent on the endless list of things to do AND it's Wednesday ... meaning two more days until the weekend!!!!!!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Next year ...um do i HAVE to?!?!?! *sighs* Okay... well, I can't believe I'm saying this but I think it'll be busier than 2010 and already, 2010 is chock-a-block full with the last four months whizzing by like a tornado. Oh life! Isn't it just crazy beautiful???
Next month I'm going to watch the Samoan 7s rugby team win the London 7s 2010 tournament. (and dare I say it, the IRB 7s 2009-10 World Series) Yes they will!!! *fingers, toes and everything else crossed*
Next week is pay week. That's all that matters!!!!!!
Tomorrow I've got to send off emails I meant to send last week (sorry ECHOS!) but it's okay, I'll deal with all that when tomorrow comes!
And there you have it, as Ma said - Happy 2010 plus 4 months!!!!! :)
